DONATE INSTEAD OF GIVING

Albert-Schweitzer-Kinderdorf

A tradition continues

The year 2025 is slowly drawing to an end and the Christmas season is just around the corner. It's the perfect time to reflect on the past, plan for a successful future, and focus on the things that really matter. That's precisely why we adopted a guiding principle as our motto some years ago: DONATE INSTEAD OF GIVING. We want to use our resources wisely and provide support where help is really needed. For several years now, we have therefore refrained from distributing Christmas presents to our customers and instead support and promote projects and institutions in our region. As a family-run company in the heart of Hohenlohe, the Albert-Schweitzer-Kinderdorf is naturally a big and important name for MEFA.

Albert-Schweitzer-Kinderdorf

Founded in 1957, the children's village Association is an international, non-denominational, and non-partisan association based in Waldenburg, Baden-Württemberg. As an independent youth welfare organization, its purpose is to promote the development and education of young people. On the 2,5-hectare (approx. 36 soccer fields) site on the outskirts of Waldenburg, the children's village families live in large houses with gardens in a kind of village community.

The Albert-Schweitzer-Kinderdorf Association has now expanded its services in Waldenburg and will soon inaugurate a new building with almost 350 square meters of living space in the Waldenburg construction area. The house, which has an elevator, is completely barrier-free and, for the first time, offers the opportunity to take in children with physical or mental disabilities and youth welfare needs into a children's village family, giving them a new home and a protected environment. The subsidized place is intended to enable them to learn and play together with children without disabilities, thereby promoting social participation and individual development.

This year we are supporting the Albert-Schweitzer-Kinderdorf again with a donation of €15,000 for this special project. The donation will be used to equip the family's future garden with fantastic play equipment. We are already very excited to see what the garden and house will look like in the future.

When the donation check was handed over, a tour of the future children's village family home was of course a must. Even though it is still in the final stages of construction, it is already clear that it will be a beautiful home for the children and their family. It features a large garden and a very modern and cozy interior with a great view of the surrounding countryside.

It was particularly exciting to gain a little insight into the dimensions of a children's village family. With up to 14 people sitting together at one table, everything is needed in greater quantities than one would be accustomed to in a normal family setting. More space, more opportunities, more room for individual development.
