Environmental protection and sustainability are central themes of the 21st century. It is not enough to just see the products or the packaging under these aspects. The goal must be the holistic solution, from the materials through the production to the use at the customer. And we start with ourselves. The consistent switch to LED lighting, eBike leasing for employees and an increase in the share of eMobility in our fleet are small, but important building blocks.
With MEFA Energy Systems, we have founded our own division, which is dedicated to the recovery of heat from renewable sources has written on the flags. We are setting a good example with our production and logistics center in Kupferzell. The entire heating and cooling load of the buildings and production processes are fed by the innovative and regenerative energy sources of MEFA Energy Systems. OPTIMIZE PROCESSES, CONSERVE RESOURCES
MODERN HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING TECHNOLOGY: MEFA ENERGY SYSTEMS
In the construction of our production and logistics center, we have relied on modern heating and air conditioning technology, which reduces energy consumption to just 55% of a comparable new building. With the help of our own products from the MEFA Energy Systems division, we comply with the KfW 55 standard. The building complex will be supplied with a monovalent heat pump system with low-temperature heating of 500 kW at flow temperatures of less than 30 °C. The heat pump completely and simultaneously provides the building heat and the required process and building cooling, which is temporarily stored in an ice storage.
240 MEFA earth absorbers serve as the heat source for the heat pump system, and around 200 uncovered full-surface solar absorbers MEFA sun regenerate the entire solar absorber field solar. In summer, the earth absorbers ensure a pleasant passive temperature control. In the basement of the office building, an additional ice storage unit MEFA ice ensures the necessary cooling of the server and office space. Underfloor heating in the office and social areas as well as concrete core activation in the halls keep the entire building complex at the lowest flow temperature level.
WAREHOUSE LOGISTICS AND SUPPLIERS: SHORT ROUTES
Short distances and fast access times are the benchmarks for our high-bay warehouse. Thanks to our IT-supported storage system, we avoid unnecessary routes and save electricity or gas for our industrial trucks. The same applies to the routes within the production.
Since the process chain does not end outside our building, we attach great importance to the proximity to our production partners. Wherever possible, we cooperate with regional providers. In addition, we also attach great importance to sustainable production at our suppliers.

Every new product we develop has to surpass its predecessors economically and ecologically. Resource conservation is an integral part and an essential goal in product development, starting with the materials through to the production processes.
SUSTAINABLE FROM THE GROUND UP: MEFA PRODUCTS MADE OF STEEL
Steel is one of the best recycled materials in building industry. About 97% - 99% of the steel is collected after the demolition of a building and about 87% recycled.* Our products are also free of lead, cadmium and chromium VI compounds.

Sound emissions are also a form of pollution that stress people. Our TPE sound insulation inserts for pipe clamps have been tested by the SG-Bauakustik Institute for Sound-Technical Product Optimization and fulfill all the requirements of the DIN EN ISO 3822-1.
