Earth Day 2026
Working Together for a better Future
Earth Day 2026
Change doesn’t start at some point in the future. It starts now. And it starts with us. Since 1970, the international theme “Our Power, Our Planet” has been celebrated annually on April 22. In Germany, Earth Day 2026 will focus above all on what people can achieve together to lead the way. For a sense of responsibility that inspires courage. For decisions that make our daily lives more sustainable.
Pioneering energy management:
Our Company stores summer heat and significantly reduces energy costs
Since 2017, the 13,000 m² production and logistics center of MEFA Befestigungs- und Montagesysteme GmbH in Kupferzell has been used primarily for logistics and the manufacturing of fastening technology. Approximately 10% of the space is used as office space. The building has a heat demand of 1,200 MWh/year with a required heating capacity of up to 600 kW. In addition, 65 kW of cooling capacity is required.
Since 2009, MEFA has also been active in the renewable energy sector through its “multiQ – Wir sind die Quelle!” division. With its proprietary absorbers, multiQ provides various options for serving as a thermal energy source for brine-water heat pumps, offering cost-effective, environmentally conscious, and customized systems for heating and cooling for industry, public institutions, and private users.
multiQ offers the following systems:
- multiQ geo - Geothermal energy
- multiQ sun - Solar thermal energy
- multiQ water - Aquathermal energy
- multiQ ice - Cryo thermal energy
Holistic approach
The building was completed in 2017 with a sophisticated heating and cooling system consisting of 192 multiQ sun solar thermal collectors on the south facade, 72 multiQ sun solar thermal collectors on the roof, over 1,800 PV modules, three brine-water heat pumps, concrete core activation, 240 multiQ geo ground-source heat exchangers beneath the building, and a multiQ ice ice storage system with a capacity of 60,000 liters.
It is precisely this combination that makes the building’s operation not only particularly sustainable, but also extremely cost-effective.
